Beverley Tips: Strangerontheshore can make waves

It’s back to Beverley for the second of their two-day summer meeting and there is a six-race card from the Yorkshire venue on Thursday afternoon, August 17th.

There are five competitive handicaps and a novice race for punters to find winners and it certainly promises to be an enjoyable day of action.

3.00 – Brandaisy @ 7/4

There are plenty of unexposed runners in the seven-and-a-half-furlong nursery handicap at 3.00 but it could go the way of a horse with form in the book.

Brandaisy kept on well to finish second over seven furlongs at Haydock 11 days ago and another half furlong looks likely to suit Richard Fahey’s charge. That second place finish came behind the useful Nellie Laylax and there is unlikely to be a horse of that class in today’s contest.

The Haydock run came on heavy ground, but the step up in trip may have played a bigger role in Brandaisy’s improvement than the testing conditions, and she looks a good bet this afternoon.

4.00 – Cold Henry @ 7/4

Cold Henry has been a model of consistency with the four-year-old’s last six form figures reading 3,2,2,3,1,1. The same can’t be said for the bulk of Cold Henry’s rivals in this race and Sara Ender’s charge doesn’t look done winning yet.

The four-year-old was beaten a fairly long way in third at Catterick last time out, but the slow pace of that contest didn’t see Ender’s charge at his best.

Cold Henry should have a good clip to aim at this afternoon and he has been freshened up off a 36-day break.

4.30 – Strangerontheshore @ 9/1

Strangerontheshore is a two-time course-and-distance winner and the five year old looks ready to strike again in the final race on the card.

Nigel Tinkler’s charge has dropped to a rating one pound below the mark she scored off at this track just over a year ago and plenty of ability remains judged on Strangerontheshore’s good second at Doncaster in June.

Conditions look perfect for Strangerontheshore to make it three wins over the track and trip.
