Cambridge vs Reading Prediction: Tight tussle looks likely

Cambridge host Reading on Monday night in an intriguing League One contest and it could be a closely fought contest.

Reading are having to deal with a points deduction this season, but the Royals have won two of their opening five third-tier games.

Cambridge are looking for a third home league win of the campaign, with Mark Bonner’s men growing in confidence at the Abbey Stadium.

Team news

Jordan Cousins, Adam May and Mamadou Jobe are out for the home side but Elias Kachunga could return to the starting lineup.

Tyler Bindon, Mamadi Camara, Lewis Wing, Sam Smith and Ovie Ejaria all face fitness tests for the Royals.

Draw @ 23/10

Cambridge have started the season well, winning three of their five League One games and they look capable of staying competitive against Reading. The Royals were hit by a points deduction and Ruben Selles is working with a young squad in Berkshire.

It’s fair to think that Reading may be a little inconsistent this term, given the youthful nature of their squad, but they have only conceded four goals in their opening five matches.

Cambridge have been solid at home, conceding only two goals in three games, Stevenage and Bristol Rovers and they are likely to be tough to break down at the Abbey Stadium.

Reading have only conceded three times in two League One matches against Exeter and Port Vale and an EFL Cup tie at Millwall. Those numbers suggest it might be a tight contest on Monday night and backing the draw looks like a play.

Gassan Ahadme to score anytime @ 21/10

If any player is going to find the net it could be Gassan Ahadme. The 23-year-old has scored twice in five games since arriving on-loan at the U’s and he looks capable of causing the Reading defence problems.

Ahadme has registered 12 shots on target this term, the most of any Cambridge player, and the Spanish-born forward looks a good anytime scorer punt.
