Football Bet of the Day – Wednesday

PSV Eindhoven take on Rangers in the second leg of their Champions League play-off clash on Wednesday night after playing out a 2-2 draw last time out in Glasgow. We take a look at the most enticing market from this clash which we have selected as our bet of the day.

There is a lot of history between these two sides in Europe dating all the way back to 1978 when Rangers became the first team to beat PSV on home soil in European competition. The Dutch side didn’t like it and ever since they have had a quirky rivalry with the Scottish giants. There have been a few meetings in European ties since between these two and Rangers have always prevailed.

The most recent meeting, before last week, was last season, when they also met in the Champions League play-off. Interestingly, the first leg at Ibrox also finished 2-2 on that occasion, before the Gers won 1-0 in Eindhoven thanks to Antonio Colak. It’s fair to say PSV always seem frustrated when they face the Glasgow side and their wait to get one over on Rangers is still ongoing.

It doesn’t feel like this is going to change this time around as Rangers know just how to navigate themselves through to the Champions League group stage at Philips Stadion, having done so 12 months ago. Michael Beale’s men looked sharp at Ibrox last week in the first leg and they will be just as pumped up for this meeting in the Netherlands to get Rangers in the Champions League group stage draw for the second year running.

They conjured up two goals last time out and they can do so again on Eindhoven’s turf. Full-back James Tavernier has scored three goals already this term in all competitions and striker Cyriel Dessers has two. There is enough quality in Beale’s ranks to hurt PSV again and score two goals in the second leg.
