Home advantage could be key

Azerbaijan and Estonia have been the whipping boys of Group F in Euro 2024 qualifying and the pair are still without their first win as they meet on Friday.

Estonia are playing for pride after their failure to qualify for Germany next summer was confirmed, and Azerbaijan need a victory here and for other results to go their way to keep their faint hopes alive.

Estonia vs Azerbaijan Tips

  • Estonia to win @ 13/10
  • Henri Anier to score at anytime @ 13/5

Team news

Karol Mets is suspended for Estonia, who are expected to have Henri Anier leading the line and Arsenal goalkeeper Karl Hein between the sticks. Roma midfielder Martin Vetkal could also make his senior debut.

Eddie Israfilov will be absent for Azerbaijan after departing his country’s training camp with an injury.

Estonia to win @ 13/10

Estonia and Azerbaijan both have a point each after five and four games of qualifying respectively.

The pair shared the spoils 1-1 when they met in Baku in June but it could be home advantage that tells in this return fixture.

Azerbaijan have lost their last eight European Championship qualifiers on the road and their last two away games saw them lose 5-0 against Sweden and 4-1 against Austria.

Estonia have recorded wins over Finland and Lithuania in the last 12 months and a replication of that level of form should be enough for them to edge this clash.

With little to separate the two sides on paper, Azerbaijan’s poor record on their travels could be crucial and Estonia can record a home victory.

Henri Anier to score at anytime @ 13/5

Henri Anier has been a consistent source of goals for Estonia throughout his career and he could get on the scoresheet again.

The striker has 21 goals in 88 games for his country and has been in fine goalscoring form recently.

Since moving to Lee Man in the Hong Kong Premier League, Anier has netted four times in five matches and could transfer that form to his national team.

The 32-year-old has had a lengthy career, starring for Motherwell, Dundee United and Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership, as well as representing Swedish side Kalmar FF and Dutch outfit Go Ahead Eagles.

Anier may put his experience to good use and find the net in this matchup.

Match Odds

Estonia can be backed at 13/10 for the win, while Azerbaijan are 12/5 and the draw is available at 2/1.

It is 4/6 for both teams not to score and 11/10 for this to happen, while over 2.5 goals is priced up at 13/8.

Henri Anier is 13/5 to score anytime, with Estonia teammate Sergei Zenjov and Azerbaijan’s Musa Qurbanly both 3/1 in this market.
