After Juventus Turin, sanctioned with a withdrawal from the standings by 15 points, a new European cador is facing heavy allegations. As announced by the English media, Manchester City is now accused by the Premier League of several financial offences. In a communicated published this Monday on its official website, the English championship confirms and details the offenses that the Citizens would have committed between the 2009-2010 season and the 2017-2018 season. “In accordance with Premier League rule W.82.1, the Premier League confirms that it has today referred a number of alleged breaches of Premier League rules by Manchester City Football Club to a committee under the Premier League rule W.3.4.”
“For each of the 2009/10 to 2017/18 seasons inclusive, the Premier League rules applicable in those seasons which required a member club to provide the Premier League, in the best possible faith, with accurate financial information giving a picture faithful to the club’s financial situation, in particular with regard to its income (including sponsorship income), its related parties and its operating costs (…) In respect of: each of the seasons 2009/10 to 2012 /13 inclusive, the Premier League rules applicable to those seasons requiring a member club to include full details of managers’ remuneration in their relevant contracts with their manager (…) For each of the 2013/14 to 2017/18 seasons inclusive, the Premier League rules applicable to those seasons requiring a member club to comply with UEFA regulations, including the UEFA club licensing and financial fair play regulations (…) For each of the seasons 2015/16 to 2017/18 inclusive, the Premier League rules applicable to those seasons on profitability and sustainability (…) In relation to the period from December 2018 to date, the Premier League rules applicable to the relevant seasons require that ‘a member club is cooperating with and assisting the Premier League in its investigations, including providing documents and information to the Premier League in good faith.’
Man City hit with more than 100 charges of breaching rules by the Premier League.
Possible penalties if found proven include points deductions or even expulsion from the league.
