Naples confirms its first place by taking the best of AS Roma

Last meeting of the day this Sunday in Serie A, counting for the 11th day of the Italian championship, at the Stadio Olimpico between AS Roma and Naples, respectively 5th and 1st in the standings before kick-off. In this poster at the top of the table, the first quarter of an hour was quite rhythmic between the two teams but the chances were slow to come. The first opportunity of the meeting was to the credit of the Neapolitans. Rui Patricio was then forced to intervene on the ground to block on his left the shot on target with the left foot of Piotr Zielinski, from outside the Roman area (27th). Shortly before returning to the locker room, the Roman goalkeeper, who came out on the right of his area, won his duel against Tanguy Ndombele but the latter collapsed and Mr. Massimiliano Irrati then whistled the penalty for the Partenopei (37th). In the process, the referee would review the action and reconsider his initial decision (39th).

After the break, Chris Smalling proved intractable against the onslaught of the Neapolitans. On a counter-attack, the defender made a decisive tackle in his area, repelling the left-footed strike from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (53rd). On the hour mark, on a cross from Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Piotr Zielinski headed in at the far post for Elif Elmas but the English defender was once again in place to stop this new Neapolitan action (61st). As both teams headed for a goalless draw, the Partenopei finally managed to open the scoring. On a pass from Matteo Politano, Victor Osimhen resisted against Chris Smalling and crossed his shot, to the right of the area, into the opposite side netting. The meeting remained tense but hot situations became rare until the final whistle. Thanks to this victory, Naples confirms its 1st place in Serie A while AS Roma remains stuck in 5th place.
