Sane to continue goalscoring form?

Bayern Munich will be looking to build on their opening weekend victory against Werder Bremen when they welcome Augsburg to the Allianz Arena on Sunday afternoon. We take a look at where the betting value might lie in this Bundesliga clash.

Team news

Bayern Munich will be without exciting winger Jamal Musiala against Augsburg after sustaining a hamstring injury in training while Raphael Guerreiro remains sidelined with a calf problem. Benjamin Pavard’s involvement remains uncertain after coming down with illness in the week.

Other than that, manager Thomas Tuchel has much of his squad to choose from in his side’s first home Bundesliga clash of the season. Harry Kane was off the mark last time out against Werder Bremen, as was Leroy Sane, who scored twice as Bayern cruised to a 4-0 victory. The reigning champions will be looking to follow up that impressive display with a dazzling performance on home soil to start building momentum for their title defence.

Leroy Sane to score anytime at EVS

Bayern’s exciting winger Sane gave an impressive performance against Werder Bremen to open his 2023-24 account with a brace. Sane’s career in Munich has been turbulent and consistency has been an issue, as it was for him at Manchester City. The 27-year-old is at the stage of his career now where he needs to find a breakthrough in consistent performances.

If he can build on last week’s showing with a strong display at home against Augsburg, he could be setting up for an incredible season personally. EVS feels like a great price for Sane to get on the scoresheet again this weekend.

Both teams to score (Yes) at 10/11

Although Bayern will be favoured in this fixture given the depth of their squad and the fact that they have won 11 Bundesliga titles in a row, Augsburg demonstrated that they have goals in their side after their dramatic 4-4 draw with Borussia Monchengladbach last weekend. There were four different players on the scoresheet. They were Elvis Rexhbecaj, Maximilian Bauer, Sven Michel and Ruben Vargas.

After being 3-1 down against Gladbach, Augsburg rallied to take a 4-3 lead, only to be denied an excellent comeback victory by a penalty in the seventh minute of injury time. They showed great character in that match to ensure they left with something and it was so close to being three points. This is why there is a strong feeling that they can hurt Bayern this weekend.

Tuchel’s men could go ahead but Augsburg have already shown us that it doesn’t faze them and they will give their all to come away from the champions with something. On paper they are outgunned but this team are full of confidence right now and they will give Bayern much to think about.
