There’s a six-race card from Kelso on Tuesday on what promises to be a fun night of jumping at the Scottish track.
The action is highlighted by a good quality Class 4 handicap, which opens the evening, while there is also a real chance for a gelding from Martin Todhunter’s yard to get back on the board.
16:25 – Captain Tommy @ 4/1
The opening race on Tuesday evening’s card is a staying handicap hurdle run over a three-miles-and-two-furlongs trip and it can go the way of Captain Tommy.
Ian Williams’ runner scored well over two-miles-and-seven-furlongs at Worcester last time out and the nine-year-old is unlikely to have any problems staying the extra distance as he steps up beyond three miles.
Better ground appears key to the nine-year-old and Tuesday’s forecast conditions should be ideal for the five-time scorer, who also has the advantage of having Brian Hughes in the plate.
It wasn’t a big field last time out, but it appeared a fair contest and the style of his Worcester success suggests that Captain Tommy can follow up.
18:05 – First Revolution @ 5/2
First Revolution has been in good form and a neck defeat at Market Rasen last month indicates that Martin Todhunter’s charge is ready to score.
The nine-year-old stayed on powerfully down the Market Rasen straight last time out, but an awkward jump at the final fence gave Pittsburgh the advantage and he held on.
However, that was a very good run and there should be a strong pace for First Revolution to chase on Tuesday.
That is often when the nine-year-old is seen to best effect and a big run looks likely under Sean Quinlan, who has piloted him to form figures of 212 in the gelding’s last three rides.
19:05 – Call Me Harry @ 4/1
Call Me Harry looked a useful jumping prospect when winning bumpers at Musselburgh and Newcastle and Ian Jardine’s charge can get his head in front over hurdles.
The six-year-old has time in hand to fulfil his potential and he is still unexposed over the smaller obstacles.
Call Me Harry caught the eye when having his first run after wind surgery at Perth two starts ago and there was also plenty to build on at the same track last time out.
Tuesday evening’s contest appears a winnable task against a mixed field. The son of Make Believe looks like the one to watch in this Handicap Hurdle.
