Visitors just playing for pride now

After a miserable Euro 2024 qualifying campaign, the two sides bottom of Group B, Gibraltar and the Republic of Ireland, go head-to-head on Monday evening, with both sides eager for their nightmares to end.

We’ve picked out a couple of interesting markets on offer in this contest.

Team news

Gibraltar have no fresh injury concerns heading into this game, after they were thumped 4-0 by Wales in a friendly last week.

Ireland boss Stephen Kenny has had to deal with a couple of members leaving the camp, with both Aaron Connolly and Sammie Szmodicz departing before his side’s crushing 2-0 defeat to Greece in Dublin on Friday night.

Chiedozie Ogbene to score anytime @ EVS

While this Euro 2024 qualifying campaign has been miserable for Ireland, they have still got pride to play for and the players will be eager to put on a show for the fans against Gibraltar.

The hosts are on a goalless run of seven matches and have been beaten in their last eight competitive matches. Ireland previously beat them 3-0 back in June with three different players on the scoresheet. Although he was not one of them, Luton Town’s Chiedozie Ogbene will look to get a goal while on international duty to raise his confidence for when he returns to Premier League action.

Ireland to win 3-0 @ 4/1

Although it seems likely that the Football Association of Ireland will remove Stephen Kenny from his post as manager in the coming weeks, the Ireland boss will still want to try and deliver an impressive performance from his players against Gibraltar.

Having beaten them 3-0 earlier in the year, the Boys in Green are the overwhelming favourites in this match, and while it does nothing for their ambitions of reaching a major tournament finals, it can help them show that there is enough talent in their ranks that can harnessed by a potential successor.

Most of the players will be hungry to play so that they can make amends for their poor display on home soil against Greece last time out. They will want to put in a commanding and ruthless attacking performance, and given Gibraltar’s recent history, they should be winning this quite comfortably.
